Social class, race, and culture can dramatically shape how one is treated and viewed in schools. One of the root causes for differing management of individual classes, races, and ethnicity is the underlying stereotypes of each group (Garcia, Weiss). Common stereotypes of each social class, race, and culture affect how both peers and teachers view their students, and as an effect influence the treatment each student receives throughout their education (Garcia, Weiss). The two primary factors impacting the treatment of students in schools are social class and race, as these are more easily noticed in an educational setting (Garcia, Weiss).
